80M net

Unread post by M0HJO »

Well, bands seem to be on the up!

I had a real good rag chew on 80M tonight for a couple of hours, so things seem to be improving.

Maybe its time to try another HRT 80M net??

Let me know your thoughts.

John.

Will sort something this week, ATM I'm in bed with a tummy bug!! :x

Replacing the 80M wire coax and balun has really improved it and picks up more noise!!

Damn noise is just from things people are buying cheap I'm sure, bloody china.

Is the 80M net still active please?

I have some longish bits of wire that I might just throw up as high as I can and feed as an end fed with whatever else I can cobble together for a ground plane.

Not sure when though, but maybe in the next couple of days.

We do try from time to time, but 80M is very poor at the moment for inter G.

Seems to improve late at night, (23:00 onwards) but most are in the land of nod.

See how it goes, I'm always up for trying and other bands.

I have put the wire up, but not had chance to connect it to the shack with coaxial cable yet. I have some but need to dig out a couple of PL259s. I used to pick them up at rallies, but not been to one in a while, so my stock is starting to run low.

I tried the end-fed wire, but it didn't seem to work very well. Probably not a good enough earth or ground plane.

I'm considering putting up another doublet, or maybe adding an 80M dipole to the 40M one.
