Poor quality heatsink from HS Marston
Poor quality heatsink from HS Marston
I bought a heatsink made by them http://www.hsmarston.co.uk/force-cooled-1.html
The milling on the mounting surface is poor, you can see and feel the rough machining
But look at the website, I thought I was safe and would get good quality.
Tried to contact them, but non of their email addresses work.

I can see your point mate, might pass as acceptable for basic contact heat sinking, with plenty of paste involved, but some devices require far batter surface contact area precision than that of course.
Many years ago I did a job an aluminium casting factory that manufactured heatsinks among other stuff, all sorts of sizes, styles and shapes, they were excellent milled surface finished items, with various final anodised finishes applied, or even plain aluminium.
Was given a large bag full of oddities and shapes and sizes off the factory floor at the end of the job, still ain't used them all yet.

Dave, I'm looking for the best for my amp, and this is not up to par.
I can mill to a better finish with a hand cranked machine https://g.zs5wo.net/wp-content/uploads/ ... 030818.jpg
What must I do, machine it myself when I have paid for it?

Re: Poor quality heatsink from HS Marston
I agree with you, that is poor quality machining.
Re: Poor quality heatsink from HS Marston
Send it back, or bill the cunt for time to restore it.
Re: Poor quality heatsink from HS Marston
Hope they don't supply that sort of rubbish to the aerospace industry.
I'd be seeing if the telephone numbers connect.
(Nice sausages, even if they are 3 years old now )

Re: Poor quality heatsink from HS Marston
I sent an email just asking them to contact me, the email goes through if the whole message is under 1k, which leaves about 150 characters that you can write !
I bet they either won't bother, or refer me back to CPC who I bought it through.
I've never seen any heatsink like this, and ones I have come by from aircraft/military use are superbly finished.
I'll end up re-finishing it myself, as I have committed to using it and don't want any long delays.
