NOBEL FOR CHEMISTRY TO THE 3 LORDS OF LITHIUM !
This battery has laid the foundations of "wireless" electronics, such as mobile phones, laptops, pacemakers and our portable RTX transceivers!
But for some years now also as an accumulation of energy produced with wind energy and in electric cars (see the article on electric cars and the batteries used on my website!).
LITHIUM is a chemical element of the periodic table and belongs to the group of alkaline metals.
In its pure form it is a soft substance of silver color and oxidizes rapidly in contact with air and water.
Discovered in 1817 by Swedish chemists Johan Arfwedson and Jon Bertzelius.
The first lithium battery dates back to the 1970s with the Whittingham oil crisis.
But it was not until 1980 that Goodenough doubled the potential of the lithium battery, creating the conditions for a much more powerful and functional battery.
In 1985 the Japanese Akira Yohino succeeded in eliminating the pure lithium from the battery based internally on the lithium IONS. This made it available to anyone and was marketed in the early 1990s by SONY.
Although this technology is 30 years old and has not yet been surpassed by a new and better one, it shows how extraordinary it is !!!
Now at the age of '97, the American physicist Goodenogh has developed a NEW solid-state battery with "glass" electrolyte still under study. The advantages include greater energy density, greater safety and speed of recharging.

Re: NOBEL FOR CHEMISTRY TO THE 3 LORDS OF LITHIUM !
Hey Rudy welcome to the forum - Thanks for posting this article it has been an interesting read!
The advancement in Li-Ion battery technology has came on leaps and bounds in the last decade and it will be interesting to see where it will be in another 5 years - This technology is much mores stable today than in the past, continuous development will certainly make it more stable and much more powerful.
I will be sure to check out your website too.
