Great idea, no doubt the Communist Party will boo-hoo it and have nothing positive to contribute....

Not really connected to that article, but he is certainly pulling out the stops to help.

No doubt it won't help everybody, but I think what they are doing is almost unbelievable.

I think they are doing more than could be expected.

Strange days.
The 'nasty party' has turned into the old 'red rose' social democrat party that was 'my' old l*bour party.
But now they are away with the fairies.

Dad would turn in his urn if he knew how I voted. :)

PS. I wrote 'l*bour' but the site changed it to 'communists'.
Juvenile ... take the editor off, please. L*bour isn't communist ... only 'Momentum' is.

He may well be hailed as generous to a fault, but I have to say this £10 a head discount meal deal for the month of August, just smacks of bull crap to me!
There are many folks currently coming out of furlough, which I agree was far more generous than I expected at the time, that are about to lose their jobs when the companies they work for decide they can no longer stay fiscally viable once the support is removed.
And I am guessing there will be VERY many of them country wide who don't fall into the helping hand "younger" age bracket.
Now what counts after that is what support they "the older now unemployed" get to find themselves a route back into work.
And of course all of this has to be paid for eventually, by those fortunate enough to have kept a job, or us self employed who's very job style prospects are entirely in our own hands of course.
I see BIG tax/price rises on the horizon! ;)
Generous is giving away cash, cash given away to reclaim back later by whatever means, is just a stop gap loan.
Robin Hood he is not!

I've been back to work three weeks now, this week is the first week with guests back on site.
Some 22 lodges are in use this week out of 32.

Next week and the next 12 months, we are fully booked.

Check in, is via text, you collect your lodge key from a little secure box, fitted near your lodge door. (done by me lol)
Then text once your in and happy.

Any maintenance problems, before I go in, you either:
1) Exit your lodge
2) stay in a different room with door shut until told you can come out.

Bar, Gym and pool remain shut, but you can order and collect take a ways.

Its not the best, but working!!
Glad to be Here.

Very valid points, I think the important thing here is the timing.
To have half the country down and out right now would bring more misery than could be imagined, and would cost the government almost what the current measures are costing.

By keeping things going and delaying the inevitable for a while will spread the problems out and make them more manageable.

What ever way they go, it is going to cost a lot of money, so using it up front to keep as much going as possible will probably have the best end result.

I don't see any other feasible course of action that will cost much less.

I'm a Tory well it's the best we've got at the minute, all this expenditure is a joke.
But it's good to see them reeling all the low life's in, let's hope many of twats that had their cake and ate it are also reeled in.

I know people who have claimed job seekers while working all the way through and some furlough... scum.
